This week was REALLY busy, holy, that's a news cycle and a half!

The Tuesday Dispatch

Hey Everyone,

In today’s edition I could have talked about oil breaking $100 and then falling off a cliff inside the same week and Equinox and Orla shareholders green-lighting Canada's new number two gold producer or even the TSX printing another record high while gold slumps toward $4,000 or B.C. handing FortisBC a permit exemption for a $2 billion LNG expansion this week and that would have been perfectly fine.

But then I was thinking that I should probably cover the copper tariff decision that's now a month past due, which would have easily lead to Teck's quarter landing with the Anglo merger still stuck in the regulatory queue, and then I worried that I'd be missing out on the Marten Falls road breaking ground in a matter of days.

You see the problem here, when you're chasing a fast moving industry is that it’s never enough. Couple that with the numerous emails I get every day from PR firms looking to land some coverage for their clients and I always feel like I’m behind.

That’s just it though, I’m not behind, my expectations are too high for what I should actually be delivering. I’m sure many of you feel the same. You look at your output, compare that to your projections and Q2 results and try to eek out another marginal increase to show progress and improvement. Q3 must improve at all costs after all…

The new format of Canadian Mining & Energy is just 4 days away. I’m planning for my Q3 to be slower, much much slower and that will result in far greater value being delivered to my “shareholders” (that means reader) even though it looks less busy.

Quick follow up from the post last week about The Good Work Club.

If you have an operation in Mexico I’d love to connect you with a friend of mine. He’s likely going to be in country this winter and does amazing work. He’s worked for car companies you know of and travels the world doing this sort of thing. We were talking this morning and he’d be keen to head to your site, take photos and videos and give you a package that sets you up for a year; media, posts, calendar - everything.

The best part is that because he’s already in country you’re not on the hook to fly someone there, pay for hotels and per diem +++ etc.
