Boxes mostly unpacked, routines mostly returning, fridge mostly full. Ontario feels different already, like we’ve walked into the back half of someone else’s summer.

Out west, I had a vague sense of what was being built, what was booming, what was just noise. But here, it’s more in your face. Driving around the GTA there’s loads of massive new warehouse builds—glass, concrete, loading docks—but they’re sitting empty. “For Lease” signs on everything. And the craziest thing is the “For Lease” signs are often tattered and weather worn.
