No Wi-Fi, One Bat, a Cat in Quarantine, and 3,600 km to Go —

Hello Everyone,

Well, we’re officially in the moving home stretch.

The house is empty, empty empty. No boxes, no furniture, no Wi-Fi (whoops). Just a bed each and a lot of echo. You can hear your thoughts here now. And your second thoughts.

The cat, clearly trying to make a statement, caught a bat and proudly brought it inside. So she’s now quarantined at the kennel until test results come back. Nothing says “sendoff” quite like rabies protocol.

Yesterday’s storm rolled through and soaked what little was left outside. It felt like the universe helping us make the final calls. If it survived the rain, it probably matters. If it didn’t, maybe it didn’t need to come with us.

We hit the road Thursday morning, heading East. About 3,600 kilometres to go, depending on how many gravel roads we detour down out of curiosity or necessity.

As we approach one full year of stewardship at Mining & Energy, I just want to say thank you. For reading, for replying, for riding along on this journey. I’m so grateful to be doing this with you.

Oh, and on the off chance you know someone with a gravel pit for sale, send them my way. I’ve got something fun in the works.

Thursday morning @ 5am we hit the road.
