Alright, alright, alright... Sometimes the key to moving fast is knowing when to slow down and pivot.

Hello Everyone,

Lately, I've been spending my days in a whirlwind of laying sod, endlessly mowing an acre of grass, and selling just about everything we own as we prepare to list our house. Note: We’re moving across the country for hockey.

While I’m working around the yard I binge books on Audible and lately, Matthew McConaughey's audiobook Greenlights has been my companion. (Highly recommended, by the way.)

As McConaughey's smooth Texas drawl blends with the rhythm of tractor blades, I've found myself reflecting deeply, not just on past missteps (and there have been a few), but on the many opportunities, "greenlights", I've spotted and seized.

The funny thing is, looking back, there are far more greenlights in life and business than there ever were red or yellow. Yet, it's human nature, and perhaps just good survival instinct, to fixate on red lights. After all, the penalty for blowing through a red is usually swift and often severe. Ignoring a green? Well, you might annoy the driver behind you, but you'll likely stay safe.

But here's the thing… In business, just as in life, if you spend your time staring at the red lights, you miss the green ones entirely.

Right now, as our nation and industry ramp up to an unprecedented pace, agility isn't just a nice-to-have, it's a necessity. It's more critical than ever to spot the greens, cautiously leverage the yellows, and, critically, stop trying to plow through reds.

Can't get the primary permits you need? That’s a red. But what about taking a detour, securing a smaller, related permit first, building momentum and relationships along the way, then circling back with stronger credibility to get the permit you really need?

In short, stop fighting with red lights. Adjust, pivot, find another route.

There's always a greenlight somewhere if you're willing to look for it. And sometimes, the scenic route ends up being the fastest path forward.

Keep your eyes on the greens, your heart patient at the yellows, and your foot off the gas at the reds. Trust me, life, and business, runs a whole lot smoother.

I have an ask today, in the next few weeks you’ll notice the odd sponsored ad appear in this newsletter, when you see one, would you mind giving it a click and seeing what they have to offer.

This goes a long way to help cover the costs involved and helps keep sock tape in my kids hockey bag (why does a goalie need so much sock tape?!? Beats me…) and at the same time gives a business a look from someone who might one day be a customer.

There’s no cost to you and I get paid for the click, so you don’t even have to sign up, just check them out and see what they have to offer.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate each of you and the chance I get each week to share my ideas. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I've got some more grass to cut. (Seriously, how fast does this stuff grow?!)

Have a great weekend all,
- Lee
