And so begins the cycle, 30 days +/- until we're right back here again. Time to get off this ride.
Hello Everyone,
I’ve said before that I come from a marketing (PR) and publishing background, to me, content rules all and learning to tell your story is the most important thing a business can do.
This has never been more relevant than right now. We’re just weeks away from the next round of demands to stave off these looming tariffs. A monthly cycle that I think we’ll endure until one side caves entirely or the other gets bored enough to move on.
Like a bear playing with a wayward hiker, not really hungry, but entertained for the moment.
Over the past few days it’s been interesting to watch the discourse around “Buy Canadian” rapidly consume facebook discussions. Entire arenas booing the American Anthem and Agencies, Companies and Government pulling products and terminating agreements.
BC was the first to remove liquor from government-run shelves.
Aluminum sales were diverted abroad.
US orders were canceled across many industries.
Potash was front and center (btw, more than 150k people read that article since Friday!).
Consumers en masse picked Canadian products at the grocery store.
Some dealerships openly posted about not accepting Teslas on trade.
The list goes on but the one thing remains, Canadians are united around our shared core value of helping Canadians. Let’s face it, for 4 months of the year the only way to survive in Canada is with the help of others. We’re pretty good at rallying together.
With this momentum in mind, now is the time to tell your story. If your business builds/sells/provides anything created in Canada - heck just not in the United States, you NEED to be telling your story. Canadians want to support you.

I am going to create this list today, so if that’s you - let me know!
Open up your email (it’s a text editor at heart), write a draft email to yourself, put in it all the things that you have going on right now in point form:
New Equipment & Investments – Talk about any new machinery, tools, or technology you’ve invested in and how it improves your product or service.
Industry Facts & Insights – Share interesting or little-known facts about your industry that customers might find surprising or useful.
Upcoming Trends & Predictions – What’s on the horizon for your industry? What changes do you see coming that will impact your customers?
Behind-the-Scenes of Your Process – Show how your products or services come to life, from raw materials to the finished product.
A Day in the Life at Your Business – Share what a typical workday looks like for your team to give customers a glimpse into your operations.
Customer Success Stories – Highlight a great experience a customer had with your product or service. Testimonials and case studies build trust.
How Your Business Supports Local Jobs – Explain how your company contributes to the local economy and why buying Canadian matters.
Challenges You’ve Overcome – Talk about a tough situation your business faced (supply chain issues, tariffs, competition) and how you adapted.
Exciting New Projects or Expansions – Are you launching something new, expanding operations, or opening a new location?
Copy your list into an AI writing tool and prompt it with:
I haven’t updated our customers in a while. Please turn this list into a few paragraphs I can use as a blog post draft.
Take that resulting text, head back to your email and edit it until it matches your tone and feels right.
Publish it to your site, share the link to your blog post on Linkedin and Facebook, and then fire me an email with that link as well.
Marketing is about orbits, envision a comet passing by earth, you see it and then it fades away, but when it comes around again you notice it more and eventually you begin to think about it when you can’t see it. That’s marketing, it’s slowly overtime having your product or service enter the view of your ideal customer until they begin to think about you when you’re not even there.
Canadians are ready to support you. The only thing left is for you to step up and tell them why.
