DeepSeek just torpedoed NVIDIA with a $600b one day loss.
Hello Everyone,
As I write this I’m watching BOOM Supersonic live on YouTube cross the supersonic mark. I’m doing so via my latest gen MacBook Pro, on my latest gen secondary display while monitoring a couple key stocks live on my latest gen iPhone.
Why do I keep emphasizing latest? Well, because I’m the average consumer and I like the latest and greatest. And just like most consumers I’m wildly oblivious to the incredible technologies and materials that are made available to me every time I go to the store.
So news like yesterday’s DeepSeek announcement is a big deal.
The announcement resulted in the largest single day loss of a stock in US Stock Market history, and this stock also happens to belong to the leading chip manufacturer that the US, and most of the world, was counting on for AI and Computing advancements.
What I find most to be the most interesting part of this that China recently announced a Critical Minerals Ban. The very minerals needed to produce the chips powering the future of AI. It’s like they are making a play to torpedo all chip advancements outside of China.
Just days after Trump announced the latest in AI efforts from the Whitehouse Podium, China dropped the latest advancement in AI and it’s leaps ahead.
Are we ready for a world where China leads AI, Chip production and controls the supply of the critical minerals needed to keep up?
I heard there’s this little nation occupying the northern portion of North America that has a lot of these minerals… maybe the world should pick up the phone and make some calls to them, eh?
