Here's to 2005! Wait, it's not 2004 anymore?
Hello Everyone,
I don’t know about you but every New Years Eve, as I’m reflecting and planning, I can’t help but feel that the 1990s were not that long ago.
Maybe it’s because I yearn for the days of my youth or that given my age back it seemed a simpler time. A time where the only cell phone on a lease was a bag phone in the Rig Push’s truck and the green floor hand had a pager that one never knew just who he was smiling at when it went off…
Articles and opinions were still shared as printed publications and we had not yet entered the 24hr news cycle. The Glory Days of Media to some; the Last Winter before the current period of instant access to others.
And yet here we all are, our businesses are driven by the capturing of ancient resources, some older than the earth, and sold to those who hold the future in their pockets. It truly is an amazing time to be alive and never has it been easier to share the stories and challenges that your businesses have.
In August of 2024 I left behind a career of programming and marketing, one that took me all around the world, to acquire a publication that I the future in. Every day I see ways that you all are trying to carve out a piece of the pie and using all the resources at your disposal to, ahem, dig a bit deeper and see just what you can find.
This industry is one with stories worth sharing, challenges worth documenting and wins worth celebrating.
They say a rising tide raises all ships and, well, M&E is my ship. Here’s to favourable winds and bountiful pay in 2025!
Thank you for allowing me to grow into this role and find my voice. It is a privilege to serve you and I appreciate your support.
From my family to yours, Happy New Year to you all!
