There's a battle brewing in the Crowsnest Pass and the outcome of this vote has some serious implications on the region.
Hello Everyone,
This week saw rising temperatures in the Crowsnest Pass—figuratively, of course—as heated town halls featured ranchers and tourism operators lobbing fiery volleys at executives and government officials, while door knockers campaigned with the intensity of election season.
Well, it kinda is.
The Crowsnest Pass is set to vote on the question “Do you support the development and operations of the metallurgical coal mine at Grassy Mountain?” and it’s implications are significant.
There’s 100+ year-old water rights are at play.
Tourism drove recovery after coal left—now returning at what cost?
Selenium pollution threatens fish and water safety.
CPKC rail expansion boosts coal export potential.
Jobs vs. environmental impact divides the community.
Coal’s legacy clashes with modern sustainability efforts.
Regulatory decisions could reshape future mining projects.
Canada’s needs to compete with Australia in coal exports.
A test of balancing economic growth with environmental care.
With many other projects in the valley already in production it’s evident that the region is to coal what Alberta’s Prairies are to Oil and Gas, should we really be hampering new extraction sources just double digit kilometres away? The rail is already there, it’s already taking cars of coal to Vancouver and then ports abroad. Does it not make sense to simply add a few more cars to the train and generate more revenue for the region?
Or is it time to lean into existing projects, combine efforts and increase production from the already established projects?
Do we really need another when there is decades of production left in the current mines? Is there merit to finding ways to channel the efforts to open Grassy Mountain into working with EVR to combine forces?
This vote on November 25th will be one to watch. We’ve got a bit more info on our site and we’ll update it as we get closer to that date.

Off to Penticton for a hockey tournament this weekend, where I’ll be putting the final touches on a service for Junior Mining Companies. I’ve been working on this with a couple of investor relations firms that I’m sure you’re familiar with, to develop a service that provides a strategic platform.
With the recent outcome of the U.S. election likely leading to significant changes in how we do business with the U.S., I, along with many of you, feel that the time is right for Canadian companies to put more effort into spreading their messaging further than they currently are.
I strongly believe there is a great opportunity on the horizon to reach a massive pool of investors who are about to discover what we truly have to offer.
If you’re a TSX.V-traded company and want to see what we’re working on, hit reply, and I’ll give you a sneak peek.
As always, if you’re at the same rink as me this weekend, let me know. I have a pocket full of silver and I’d love to buy you a coffee.
