The M&E Dispatch - 005

When my friends are spending the weekend panning, I have to think there's something here to lean into.

Happy Friday everyone,

Seems everyone is catching gold fever, with gold surpassing $2600 and looking like it’s going to be the new floor for a while it’s not much of a surprise to anyone the resurgence in interest.

Heck, it seems many of my friends have become weekend prospectors lately. I’m curious to see what this means in terms of investment, both from a venture and a political point of view.

Are we getting to a point where it makes sense for our provincial and federal representatives to make gold backed initiatives prominent campaign/policy points? Coal, Lithium, Forestry, Hydro and Solar are all on heavy rotation when it comes to sound bites, yet gold seems… too capitalistic?

I like like Capitalism, and I like gold, and I vote. I’d wager, given the updates below, that there are many of us out there.

Time to lean in as a nation, no?

\\ WORK READY

One of the most common things I hear when I talk with newer companies is that they’d love to pick up some work at ____, or they hear ____ is looking for a contractor; but most of the time they don’t have the ins yet to have a shot at that. They’re not listed in any phone book, they don’t have a website or facebook yet and Linkedin isn’t something they’ve considered. Most of these companies though have years of experience working for others and are now forging it on their own. We all know what these past few years have been like…

From the other side of the equation, there’s a lot of RFPs going out right now for projects in the spring. Things are picking up and many of the previous “go-to”s have gone and went…

This is where WORK READY comes from. It allows smaller/newer contractors and companies to share their capabilities and availability in a way that makes it easy to be engaged.

Expect to see the first few WORK READY businesses starting next week.

Have a great weekend!
